Human Rights Now submitted a report on the current human rights conditions in Japan to OHCHR
to be reviewed for the Universal Periodic Review (UPR). Human Rights Now is concerned about the
fact that the government of Japan has not made adequate efforts to follow the recommendations to the
full extent, and that the issues pointed out during the last session in 2008 continue to put the human
rights in Japan on jeopardy as well. The report also contains a report on the human rights issues that
the country is facing in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011.
