On October 18, 2011, Human Rights Now issued the statement on the human
rights situation in Burma.
Human Rights Now the recent human rights situation as well as political
situation in Burma and found that grave human rights violations are still
going on inside Burma despite all the performances of the leadership or the
superficial diplomatic speech by the spokespersons of the government.
Deeply concerned with the still-prevailing grave violations of human rights
under the new government, Human Rights Now (HRN) demands that the new
government immediately terminates the human rights violations and takes
concrete measures to radically change its human rights policy. It also
requests the international community, including the Japanese government, not
to easily change the policy towards Myanmar, such as the resumption of
foreign aids to Burma, provided that the violations of human rights still
continue.
It further requests the United Nation to establish the commission of inquiry
to investigate the grave human rights situation in Burma.
