Event information

The final report of the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights, released in May 2024, highlighted challenges and areas for improvement in government and corporate efforts on business and human rights in Japan, providing specific recommendations for necessary reforms.

This webinar will focus on reviewing Japan’s National Action Plan (NAP) on Business and Human Rights, which is currently undergoing revision. Building on the outcomes of a side event co-hosted with NGOs from South Korea and Taiwan during the November 2024 Business and Human Rights Forum, it will explore measures to ensure effective remedies for human rights violations caused by business activities, including the potential for passing a law on human rights due diligence, from the perspective of rights holders.

Based on the findings of the report, the initiative will examine the current state of business and human rights in Japan, discuss the need for human rights due diligence legislation, and present recommendations for the revised NAP.

We are honored to welcome Pichamon Yeophantong, a member of the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights, to provide insights into the latest international developments and expectations for the revised NAP. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with experts in the field!

Format: Online (Pre-registration required)
