Human Rights Now (HRN) has released a statement in conjunction with the second round of negotiations for the UN Conference to Negotiate a Legally Binding Instrument to Prohibit Nuclear Weapons Leading to Their Elimination (the PTNW Conference), which is currently taking place in New York from from 15 June to 7 July, 2017.
Our statement calls for state delegates at the PTNW Conference to maintain the strong and categorical prohibitions of the current Draft Convention, and to continue its strong approach on measures for verification, implementation, and enforcement duties. HRN also calls on nuclear-armed states to participate in the negotiations in good faith and, along with all states, join the convention upon its completion.
