Human Rights Now Report on Human Rights in Japan for UPR

Human Rights Now (HRN) has submitted a UPR stakeholder submission report on current human rights conditions in Japan to the OHCHR. The report will be reviewed for the upcoming Universal Periodic Review (UPR).

HRN is concerned about the fact that the government of Japan has not made adequate efforts to follow up on previous recommendations to the full extent, and that the issues pointed out during the last session in 2008, continue to put human rights within Japan in jeopardy. The report also contains an overview of the human rights issues faced by Japan in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake that devastated North East Japan, in March, 2011.
