Submission to 14th Session of the UPR Working Group
Human Rights Now submitted the following written submission as a Universal Periodic Review stakeholder, in advance of 14th Session of the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR).
In this submission, HRN reports on the poor implementation status of previous recommendations made by the first UPR, and outlines the seriousness of the situation regarding issues surrounding the Japanese governments reluctance to accept the recommendations, along with the wider human rights situation in the country following the first UPR. A special focus is placed on events following the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Nuclear Power Plant Accident in Fukushima, Japan.
