【Webinar】 “Fostering Common Understanding and Promoting Dialogue on Human Rights Issues of Migrant Workers in Taiwan’s Distant-Water Fisheries — Visualizing Gaps in Information, Responsibility, and Institutions —”

While international concern is growing regarding human rights issues faced by Indonesian migrant workers on Taiwanese distant-water tuna vessels, it cannot be said that understanding of the underlying institutional structures, the reality on the ground, and the roles of stakeholders has been sufficiently shared within Japan.

The fragmentation of information across global supply chains, combined with a lack of transparency and accountability, makes it difficult to identify and address human rights risks.

This webinar aims to clarify the situation of rights holders, the institutional structure in Taiwan, and the challenges faced by Japanese companies. Our goal is to enable relevant stakeholders—including corporations, government agencies, and civil society—to build a common understanding that leads to future collaboration and concrete action.

We look forward to your participation.
