Human Rights Now, a Tokyo-based international human rights NGO, will hold a course of English discussion sessions (eikaiwa) called “Let’s Discuss SDGs & Human Rights in English!” like we have held in previous years. It’s designed for people wanting to practice their English discussion and people interested the topic of SDGs and human rights.
This year’s course will cover all the ways that development under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and human rights are connected, including recent hot topics such as the impact of development on climate change, reducing poverty, and women’s rights. Both beginners and people who have participated in earlier sessions this year can fully enjoy this year’s edition.
We are looking forward to your participation!
*As the number of participants is limited, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
■ Let’s Discuss SDGs & human rights in English!
The purpose of this project is not only to improve your English skills, but also to learn about SDGs and human rights issues through English materials and try to discuss the connection between development and human rights happening right now in the world. The course will examine the current situation of development and human rights issues around the world from the perspective of the promotion of and concern about SDGs, which has become a popular topic recently.
This course is aimed at people wanting to learn how to express their opinions in English, as well as people interested in SDGs, human rights, and international issues wanting to learn the fundamentals of English in order to deepen their knowledge of the field, but also to anyone wanting to improve their English skills generally.
Every lesson is taught by a native-speaker.
One of the teachers, Christopher Cade Mosley (going by Cade), is a staff member of HRN and a New York State Attorney. He previously worked in the field of environmental law and international human rights law, and he has taught international human rights to Myanmar law students.
Everyone, from students to workers with a basic understanding of English is welcome. We are looking forward to your participation!
