Toward realising a Just Transition through respecting the rights of Human Rights Defenders (HRDs) and Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD)<\/b><\/h2>\n

In recent years, the importance of Just Transition<\/b> has grown significantly in the context of climate action. It is also an essential framework for promoting corporate responsibility in respect of human rights from a Business and Human Rights (BHR)<\/b> perspective. However, alongside environmental and human rights risks at mining sites\u2014such as human rights abuses and health hazards for local communities\u2014the suppression of human rights defenders (HRDs)<\/b> who raise their voices against these issues has become a serious concern.<\/p>\n

This event, co-hosted by the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre (BHRRC) and Human Rights Now (HRN),<\/b> will explore the current state of Just Transition in Japan, the challenges companies face, and the strategies needed to ensure a fair and sustainable transition that respects human rights.<\/p>\n
