HRN has submitted a report on Hong Kong to the Human Rights Committee in advance of the Committee’s civil and political rights review of the Hong Kong government this year.<\/p>\n

The report covers abuses due to disproportionate use of force by police and other police misconduct, including the lack of an effective monitoring and complaint mechanism, arbitrary arrests, new rules undermining lawyer and judicial independence, a reeducation program for detained persons, harassment of pro-democracy “Yellow Circle” businesses, dissolution of virtually every independent civil society organisation, barriers to union registrations, and many other abuses.<\/p>\n
