International Network on Explosive Weapons (INEW), of which Human Rights Now (HRN) is a member, have issued a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Gueterres in relation to the open debate on May 25 discussing the protection of civilians in armed zones.<\/p>\n

The letter concerns the use of explosive weapons in densely populated areas which put civilians at a high risk of harm. We are calling for international standards to prohibit the use of explosive weapons in these areas as a means of providing greater protection to citizens in areas of armed conflict.<\/p>\n
