{"id":1731,"date":"2014-02-28T18:19:23","date_gmt":"2014-02-28T09:19:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hrn.or.jp\/eng\/?p=1731"},"modified":"2023-10-25T09:44:26","modified_gmt":"2023-10-25T00:44:26","slug":"special-rapporteur-fukushima","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hrn.or.jp\/eng\/news\/2014\/02\/28\/special-rapporteur-fukushima\/","title":{"rendered":"The Special Rapporteur Anand Grover visiting Tokyo, Fukushima, Kyoto for symposiums on Right to Health"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff; font-size: medium;\"><strong>The Special Rapporteur to the United Nations Human Rights Council, Anand Grover visiting Japan from March 20th until the 22nd.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>20th March: Tokyo<br \/>\n21st March: Fukushima<br \/>\n22nd March: Kyoto<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It has been 3 years since the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Disaster.<br \/>\nMeasures to help the people affected by the accident, especially children\u2019s \u201cRight to a Healthy Life\u201d has not been met, and the situation remains worrisome.<\/p>\n<p>Human Rights Now, international human rights NGO based in Tokyo, will host Anand Grover from March 20th until the 22nd and hold multiple keynote addresses in Tokyo, Fukushima, and Kyoto.<\/p>\n<p>Anand Grover visited Japan as a specialist for the UN in November of 2012. He surveyed the situation of people affected by the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Disaster\u2019s right to health and subsequently submitted a report to the United Nations Human Rights Council in May of 2013.<\/p>\n<p>He recommended the Japanese government make drastic policy changes; by creating a foundation for human rights. In addition to expanding the policies for the effects of low-level radiation, whilst focusing heavily on protecting the health of children, infants, and pregnant women as they are the most susceptible to the effects of radiation, for residents who live on the radiation standard of 1mSv\/year.<\/p>\n<p>Human Rights Now is looking to make more people aware of these recommendations through inviting Anand Grover.<br \/>\nWe would like to pursue major policy changes by the government, based on the international human right that every person has the right to health.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Anand Grover\u2019s Recommendations: http:\/\/hrn.or.jp\/activity\/topic\/-2\/<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">I.
